Pauline Frommer's book is a "must have" for both new and experieinced Italy travelers!! I have been to Italy numerous times and was surprised on what I have missed-- which only wants me to go back for more. I really enjoyed her sections of "don't leave without seeing"- gives great framweork for new agendas. I help people plan on trips and this book is invaluable for most everyone. I even showed the book to a friend and native born Italian and he was fasinated by it. Good buy

Do not like it. Too confusing. Accordingly to Pauline Frommer, they have all information online. Too lengthy, it will take me another month to find out what I need.

Great book. Was very helpful on our recent trip to Italy. We especially loved the suggested itineraries!

Great book! Almost every suggestion the book made was on point. The only thing that I specifically remember it misleading us on was some of the restaurants did not take credit card as indicated in the book. The hotels in Rome, Taormina and Palermo were fantastic!

I am going to Italy this Spring and I thought that this book would give me valuable information for my trip. It already saved me $400 when I used a url site for finding a cost effective flight to another place!

Apparently, a travel guide last revised in 2008 or earlier has lots of obsolete information, recommendations, price ranges, Points of Contact (POC) Information and websites. I was able to get utility out of this guide over a sixteen day vacation in Italy. Still, I find it irresponsible to continue publications and sales of this guide without a proper revision of sources, prices, POCs and recommendations. I also had a frustrating experience attempting to find Soure Oblate dello Spirito Santo as the map on page 102 incorrectly places it on Via Fume which is three blocks away from true location - not fun when hauling luggage on foot. Moreover, I didn't get to meet the "friendly" nuns at Foresteria del Monastero San Girolamo as they did not answer the telephone number listed in this travel guide book. Specific instance of obsolete POC information is the number to fax reservations for Vatican tickets instead of listing the website easily found after a basic internet search. The publisher should have stopped distribution of this book years ago. Do not buy this book until it is thoroughly revised!
My wife and I just got back from a week in Italy relying this book. The book's formatting made it easy to use. We selected all of our hotels using this book, trip adviser, and the New York Times. In retrospect, we would have been fine if we'd relied only on this book. The writing is also entertaining. My wife found especially helpful that this book contains writers' opinions about various sites and attractions, which is really what you need in a good travel book-- What the writers think you should see and not see. Obviously, their opinions are their own, but we found the opinions in this book to be very accurate and allowed us to save a lot of time. Finally, there were several specific instances in which this book saved us much more money than its retail price.

We highly recommend this book!
