DITHER FARM (Laurel-Leaf Books) Mass Market Paperback – February 1, 1996. by. Sid Hite (Author). This book is about everything and everybody, with an immense plot of numerous main characters: the man, the womn, their 4 kids, the monkey, the dog, the neighbors, the aunt, the bad guys, and the magic carpet. That's why I say that this story is like nothing I've ever read, clearly written by some guy who has lived life in many lanes (as the description of the author readily admits) and can present life to the readers in 3D, or 4D, or however many dimensions the reader's mind can tolerate. Cool, unusual book that I smacked into by accident and was totally surprised.

Moving in with their grandparents after their parents' deaths, adolescents Lisette and Riley explore the woods and discover Thorpe, a fifteen-year-old girl who lives alone in the wilderness. Reprint.

Sid Hite has created a cast of characters you would want to know. He brings you into the story masterfully, makes you care for each and every person in the story, makes you hope for the best in their lives. His descriptions of the time in which the story takes place, the people, the places and events, pull you into the story and don't let you out, even when the tale is "finished". Stories like this live on in your heart. I especially liked his description of a hurricane which moved inland, and how it affected the weather miles away, and how that in turn has such a profound affect on the lives of each of the characters. A wonderfully written tale. I am looking forward to future tales.

I thought this book was an exciting story. It is definitely a page turner. If you like stories with runaways hiding in the mountains, this book is for you. It was set in 1969, which makes it even better since there aren't very many modern appliances like TV to get in the way of the plot. This story gave me this feeling which I can't quite explain, but the feeling was wonderful. I am talking too much, so I will leave you to decide for yourself if you want to read this book, although anyone in middle school or high school would definitely like it if they like adventures and reading.
