Far be it from me to assume I know which books would be best for all Sufis, let alone philosophers, but I will give a list of some very good books that I like. First and foremost, I study the books that were written by these three individuals in my own lineage: Pir-O-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan. Murshid Samuel Lewis (aka Sufi Ahmed Murad Chishti). Shabda Kahn (current Pir of the Sufi Ruhaniat International). Additionally, all of the following as very good, although many of them are not for beginners.
