Applications to partial differential operators are presented. In the context of partial differential operators the spectral derivative is closely related to trace operators on compact (for elliptic operators) or non-compact manifolds. In semiconductor physics, the kinetic Boltzmann equation with a quadratic collision operator coupled with the Poisson equation are used to model degeneracy phenomena (which appear in highly doped devices). Assuming the electron distribution is small, we make an asymptotic analysis of the Boltzmann-Poisson system. We obtain the weak convergence, local in time, of the degenerate Boltzmann-Poisson.
