Spoilers abound ~!!!!

Helen has a new boyfriend, Jon, who is from Bahamas and she comes to his hometown to spend their vacation. There she finds out that Jon's father, Reed Wyatt, is the man that she had a one-night stand with ten years, who is the father of her daughter Alexa. Strangely though, Reed does not immediately recognize Helen. When his memory does return about her, Helen leaves the islands to return to London. Reed follows her there and they reconcile.

There are a few 'ugh!' points in this book. First, when Helen had the one-night stand with Reed, she was 16 years old and he is 17 years older than her. Second, how does he not recognize her? So she lost her baby fat and her hair looks different but come on ~! Third, during the ten years that she raised her daughter - with the help of her parents no less - Helen has had no other sexual relationships, at all! Finally, in the part where Helen remembers her initial encounter with Reed, he distinctly comes off as a drunk lecher. Granted, he believes her of legal age but still, his lines and actions reek of stale routines...
Clever
I did not like that when the heroine, a 26 yr old Mother, finds out that the 22 year old man she has been dating and has travelled to his home to meet his Family is her daughter’s half brother that she does not immediately say no way no how. Even with no explanation, it would be more acceptable to me than going into his home knowing that his Dad is the father of the child that you had at age 17. I know that at age 17 one is not fully mature, but you cannot lay the entire blame for what happened to this Dad when you did not tell him you were only 16 when you met. Even if she just wanted to see if he remembered or wanted some payback, revenge is not that sweet. Then, to pull this son into this already messed up situation did not make it with me. Once she realized she knew the Dad and he was the father of her child, it should have been hands off of the son on her part. And it did not put her in a good light to be still so attracted to the Dad and ready to again have sex with him and still be in a relationship with the son. I just did not see any moral absolutes in this character and would want to know how she would want her daughter to view her as a Mother. This is one of Anne Mather’s weirdo wrecks for me.
