It takes you through the steps with two major proposals, even describing the interaction between the individuals on the team creating the proposal, which was very helpful because it's a picture of how to guide a team through the process. In the second proposal, it's an individual gathering information about her client's needs, also very helpful because that is a different process.

I ordered this book for an online class on writing proposals and grants, and found it an excellent guide. It takes you through the steps with two major proposals, even describing the interaction between the individuals on the team creating the proposal, which was very helpful because it's a picture of how to guide a team through the process. In the second proposal, it's an individual gathering information about her client's needs, also very helpful because that is a different process. An excellent resource for anyone approaching grant and proposal writing. Although I had some experience with persuasive writing, this book was very helpful with the details of structure and the formal parts of a proposal. Great all-around book.

I've used Amazon for the last five years, and this is my first review. If being compelled to do this isn't enough, I'll tell you why this book is worth the money.

Though it seems like a book mostly focused on business proposals, it holds the philosophy that the things that make business proposals great also make grant proposals great. And I couldn't agree more: the thing that kills grants are 1) lack of understanding of conventions and 2)bad presentation. After reading this book, you'll never have either issue.

Every chapter has worthwhile information and diagrams, advice, hints, how-to, etc. and clear, enjoyable to read prose. The chapters on the specific sections tell you not only what must be included in the sections, but also tells you how to prepare to write it, how to plan it out, how to write it, and offers information about what readers want and expect. Also, there are chapters entirely dedicated to what readers want and expect as well as diagrams, charts, forms, steps, advice, etc. on figuring out what specific readers want.

This book can only improve your skill set and help your organization get money. Or of course help you write amazing business proposals. And if you disagree, write a better one.

Outdated and incredibly basic and repetitive. Not sure if it taught me anything I'll actually use.

I had to use this book in a class I took for writing grants. It was very easy to follow and gave great examples. In the end, this book helped me to write a quality grant for after school programs, and I also got an A in the class.

I bought this book for an online class on writing proposals and grants. It was very helpful in guiding me through the process of gathering information and developing a strategy to persuade clients to consider a proposal. The book has good examples of proposals including discussions on budgets and visual thinking strategies.
