This book is a "first" encyclopedia and that is exactly what it is. A short overview of each animal. This book answers most of these questions on a wide variety of animals and also shows similar animals in the same class.

This book is a "first" encyclopedia and that is exactly what it is. I like it and it is serving my homeschool needs with my 9 and 6 year old well this year. Just a taste into each animal. So flightless birds have a two page spread and you learn that alpacas are closely related to camels. This books covers insects, mammals, fish, birds, and reptiles.

The Kingfisher First Animal Encyclopedia is brought you by John Farndon. I like animals and I like that there are like a hundred animals in this book. I like that it has reptiles, mammals, birds, and more different kinds of animals. I liked the pictures and words too.

The real photos and minimum of two to three page spread on each animal make it so much more informative.

John Farndon (born 1960) is a British writer of books, plays and music. He is best known as a writer of, and contributor to, science books for children, and as a songwriter, poet and literary translator.
