It is a nice coffee table book. It didn't have much substance though it is a thick book. I wanted to read about New Orleans. It didn't make me want to go to any of these bars. The photos are bleak. I didn't want to keep the book. The book lacks words, very sparse, very little text.

Anyone who loves N.O. and is somewhat familiar with the neighborhood and/or French Quarter bar scene will appreciate this lovely coffee table book. It is essentially a pub crawl with photos and a one page description/history of the bar. It includes many of the world famous bars and also a good sampling of the neighborhood bars better known to the locals. The photos are great. The pages are large.

I am in love with this book! The recipes and stories about the New Orleans make this a fantastic addition to my growing library. I decided to keep it with my travel books, but is could also live with my cookbooks. I highly recommend this one!

If you are a lover of all things New Orleans, you will really enjoy this book. The photographs of some iconic bars and restaurants are worth the purchase, and the history of so many cocktails "invented" there is well told. Someone gave me a copy back in 2001 and I have been looking for another for several years to give as a gift. It is back in print after some absence, and is once again affordable. Highly recommended, if the subject matter interests you.

GREAT book to have on the coffee table!

This is clearly the most interesting book about the history of one aspect of New Orleans. Anyone who has spent much time there, wandering the more famous sites such as Napoleon House will enjoy both the pictures and the text. Very interesting history of a more than just interesting city. This makes a great coffee table book which will envoke lively conversations. You're lucky to find a copy....
Great book about New Orleans
