This is such an informative book. I am using for a class, and learning so much new information on the topic. This is a must have psychology book and I would recommend it for all people who work with children on a daily basis. This book gives information on what signs to look for as well as how to work with children who have been abused or neglected.

Required reading for course, it has been the most painful class to date. Of course the subject matter isn't a walk in the park, but this author's writing made it unbearable to read. In the first chapter, she uses the bible (not a scholarly source in any universe) as a historical reference. The book had multiple grammatical and spelling errors as if she didn't bother to hire an editor. Most importantly, the information is outdated, with cited references saying the exact opposite as she proposed. Poorly done and a waste of money.

I bought this book for a class on family abuse, so I was prepared for the pain that would be included in the experience. It provides a basic guide to the multiple types of abuse and neglect but it is a brief overview.
