Amy Strickland is an author of many different types of stories, and I've had the pleasure of reading all of the stories that she's published. But despite the outstanding work that she has done, none of her stories have ever had an epic adventure feel to them. That is, until Rescue. Rescue takes the reader to a late 19th century America, and what starts out as an innocent story soon becomes a voyage that crosses the continent.

Strickland's sister was older than she, not unlike her, but more faded; and she had the efficient air, as though she carried the British Empire in her pocket, which the wives of senior officers acquire from the consciousness of belonging to a superior caste. Her manner was brisk, and her good-breeding scarcely concealed her conviction that if you were not a soldier you might as well be a counter-jumper. She hated the Guards, whom she thought conceited, and she could not trust herself to speak of their ladies, who were so remiss in calling. Her gown was dowdy and expensive.

Hilarious Kangaroo
Not a great book, but I needed it for my class. Not as boring as some textbooks, instead it's filled with articles to read.
Zehaffy
The book is well organized and easy to follow as a college text book. This edition could probably be used for a high school nutrition unit as the articles are important in today's society.
