Her two characters live next door to each other and very quickly are forced to work together to keep up the appearance of an "engagement. I love how they are able to communicate without mincing any words and yet find themselves enjoying each other's company.

For Delainey Hodges things can't get any worse at work - until she finds herself in a very tight corner and has to pretend that she's engaged! To make matters worse, the man she picks to be her 'fiance' is her sexy but infuriating neighbor - Sam Wagner. Sam is more than happy to play the role of devoted fiance - even moving into Delainey's home. In fact, he's so convincing Delainey starts to wonder if Sam has a marriage agenda of his own . . .

I quite enjoyed this oldie by this author. It's a very quick 10 chapter read, which is definitely dated. Never mind the technology, the morals are so different - lol. The h has recently been promoted in the bank and finds herself in an awkward position with a colleague and potential client. Seemingly she's to be the icing on the deal. I couldn't help but smile because I remember those years so well. Imagine today, there would be a complete melt down over sexual harassment, anyway. The h has recently moved into an upmarket residential estate and every time she turns around she bumps into the H. On the night where she's to be served up as dessert to the client, the H steps up to rescue the h and she introduces him as her fiance. It's pretty predictable and not the best by this author but it's a light read when you're in the mood.

This story is one of my favorites by Leigh Michaels. Her two characters live next door to each other and very quickly are forced to work together to keep up the appearance of an "engagement." I love how they are able to communicate without mincing any words and yet find themselves enjoying each other's company. Ms. Michaels's style of occasionally giving the male perspective is great. As usual in her more recent books, the male main character Sam is charming, a little vague about his activities, and protective without being too heavy handed.
