I have enjoyed all the Bordelli books along with his descriptions of Florence

I have enjoyed all the Bordelli books along with his descriptions of Florence. Like many I recall the flooding of this wonderful city but I also felt some of the despair of the residents for the first time with his day to day graphic detail. The dreadful murder investigation takiing place at the same time was cleverly described but leaves a sour taste in the mouth as for me the conclusion was not good enough.

Book 4 of 5 in the Inspector Bordelli Series.

Crime, Thrillers & Mystery. Book 4 of 5 in the Inspector Bordelli Series.

Good Book Guide on DEATH IN FLORENCE). Satisfyingly realistic police procedural. DEATH IN FLORENCE confirms Vichi's place in the vanguard of the new wave of Italian crime writers. Vichi's crime novels are enjoyable, mystifying and well worth reading. writers are justifiably growing in popularity here: Marco Vichi deserves to be among them.

It still wasn’t possible to park near home, as the wrecked cars and mountains of rubbish were still there.

It still wasn’t possible to park near home, as the wrecked cars and mountains of rubbish were still there trying not to look at Marianna’s legs. He reached his front door, lighting the way with his torch. As he climbed the stairs he imagined he would find Eleonora waiting for him in bed. She had the keys and could let herself in whenever she liked. He opened the door ever so slowly, peered through the crack, and saw only darkness

Marco Vichi in his new book, Death In Florence Book Four in the Inspector Bordelli Mysteries series published by Pegasus Books LLC gives us another police procedural with Inspector Bordelli. From the back cover: Florence, October 1966. The rain is never-ending.

Marco Vichi's novel Death in Florence won the Scerbanenco, Rieti, and Camaiore prizes. Vichi’s stellar first in a new mystery series delivers a plausible solution worthy of a golden age crime novel. As delicious and satisfying as the Tuscan cuisine that Bordelli savors every chance that he gets. Vichi shows us ever more secret and dark sides to an otherwise sunny city. But his happiest creation, in my opinion, remains the character of Inspector Bordelli.

Florence, October 1966. When a young boy vanishes on his way home from school the police fear the worst, and Inspector Bordelli begins an increasingly desperate investigation. During the night of November 4th the swollen River Arno, already lapping the arches of the Ponte Vecchio, breaks its banks and overwhelms the city.

Made-with-Love
Get ready to see Florence as you have never seen it before! This series takes place soon after World War II. Inspector Bordelli is a delightful character making his way through post war Florence and giving new insights into the pulse of that fascinating town. We have glimpses of a Florence most of us never had a chance to visit at that point in history. His friends are varied and his sleuthing methods are all of his own creation. You cannot go wrong with purchasing books in this series. He is a really good man, with a real hunger for the good Italian food at his favorite restaurant.I have make 20 trips to Italy and most of them have included time in Florence. It is wonderful to have a new Florence revealed to me in this delightful series.Unfortunately, not many of them are available, few of them on Kindle, which I read from all the time.

A story which weaves the past and present together in the character of Inspector Bordelli, veteran of the Fascist struggles in Italy. This is a tale of intense wickedness and amazing humanity. The murder of a young boy and the community pulling together after a massive flood in Florence. Slow starting and fast finishing, and enhanced with the details of living.

I want more books by this author of stories in Italy. I loved getting lost in his story.

Marco Vichi can write very well at times. Death in Florence started out pretty well, but it appeared that he got lost in the middle. The flood was good, but over done and not prepared for. The ending came abruptly and was not very satisfying. I think he just ran out of energy.
JUST DO IT
Good author...great storys

I was devastated at the end of this book. Quite often when Italian writers are creating a spell binding situation they resort to the impotence of Italian law and convicting criminals. I only hope this is not the end of the marvellous Inspector Bordelli and all his wonderful friends. The character is so warm and wonderful that it would be a travesty to have it end here.

Well written, great description of the city, people as well as the central story, a good read.
Dark, old fashioned, wordy. I wanted to like this book. The beginning was OK but had to skip over lots of pages to finish it. Not for me.
