Results of electric breakdown measurements in mineral oil obtained using plane-parallel bare electrodes and electrodes coated with thin insulating films are reported. With bare electrodes a conditioning effect reappeared when a large preconditioned gap was substantially altered or when the time interval between the breakdowns was increased to several hours.
