Ambassador Geoffrey James might be a British citizen, but when he dies on the night of a gala party, it's up to Captain Sal Morizio of Washington's Metropolitan Police Department to investitgate. Despite orders to desist, Morizio and his lady love, fellow officer Connie Lake, know too much. And what they learn on an international search for missing clues tells them a lot about corruption in high places--and the effects of caviar on otherwise rational people....

The story line was interesting, the characters were well developed, some details were fuzzy, but I enjoyed the story up until the end - but not the end. There was no denouement, it just ended right after the climax; then it skipped ahead months and became a wedding announcement. It seemed that the author just wanted to be done with it, and never tied up any of the loose ends. Bad guy shot & killed a good guy - The End. There should have been about 5 pages more to close the story. Either she was tired of the story and just wanted to be done with it early, or thought the wedding announcement would be a "cute" finish, but her readers deserve better. It was a very novice trick.

All of Margret Truman’s books are always good. Good knowledge of Washington DC and area. this book seemed a bit slower than some of the others I have read.

Enjoyed this book. Like the way Margaret Truman spins her tales. Makes you wonder how things are in real life with these politicos around the world.

It's a great murder mystery set in Washington, D.C. It was written by Margaret Truman who was President Truman's daughter. It is easy to read and keeps my interest. So far I have read 6 of her books and I haven't figured out the killer yet.
Clever
Very thought provoking and disquieting. I hate to think things like this happen but not so naive to accept that they do. A compelling story of politics and trust.
