Well written and full of information. This book offers case studies and examples of dialogue between counselor and client. Detailed instructions and directions are given that may be useful to counselors. For example, under Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) the reader learns the basic tenets of SFBC and how the counselor sees the client. Then, the book quickly takes us to the main components of SFBC, followed by the Method (Orientation & Statements of Problems), and then Setting Counseling Goals. Here, a brief description is found on goal setting, examining the Skeleton Key Question, as well as Working with Unproductive Client Goals. within a few pages we are soon learning about the Miracle Question and how it helps to formulate goals with a client-counselor dialogue example. To my pleasure, a case study follows with a detailed transcript. The section covering SFBC ends with a review of the steps in SFBC to help seal it in.

I am very pleased with this book and the straightforward approach to the What and How's.

I bought this book because I counsel children and adolescents and have read good reviews from other books about the usefulness of ''counseling children''. I like the way the book is organized and it will be very useful to me in my practice as a clinical social worker. This book is very easy to comprehend and recommend to beginning therapist and advanced level practitioners. Thank you.
