Drip irrigation is the best way to help any plant flourish and survive tough times, especially short or long droughts. Pick the wrong "stuff " and you easily can feel overwhelmed. Robert Kourik's Drip Irrigation for Every Landscape and All Climates clearly explains how to use less water yet increase the yields of vegetables and promote the growth and flowering of all plants--trees, shrubs, and container plants--in any climate, even where it rains irregularly.

In the tradition of the original groundbreaking book, this fully revised edition incorporates new information essential for gardeners, including how to manage limited water supplies with precision and efficiency, without the clutter of hundreds of widgets and gizmos, and the knowledge is shared in Kourik's inimitable, friendly, down-to-earth, and easy-to-understand style.

Drip Irrigation for Every Landscape and All Climates, reveals how to:

Utilize drip irrigation for everything you grow--trees, shrubs, hanging plants, container plants, and vegetable and flower gardens --and save up to 50 percent of your water compared to sprinklers. Use a streamlined configuration of hardware and tubing. Choose the best, sturdiest hardware that will last for decades in your home landscape and vegetable garden. Pick tubing that has no emitters punched on the outside--these have a tendency to break off--and use this tubing buried beneath the surface to irrigate without losing any water to wind or evaporation. Roll out a drip system in a very short period of time, avoiding tedious hours punching in emitters or adding smaller tubing to reach each plant. Capture and reuse gray water and cistern water for irrigation. Construct a system in which the main parts are effectively hidden or can be simply attached to an existing garden faucet. Individual projects are carefully detailed and include: how anyone can construct a system by attaching it to an existing garden faucet or the main water supply, constructing larger assemblies for big gardens, irrigating all sizes of potted plants, easy ways to irrigate a vegetable garden, and how to lay out tubing for the best health of trees and shrubs.

This book provides clear, detailed instructions for understanding and creating your own drip irrigation systems. The main purpose is to explain these systems to small homesteaders or suburban gardeners but the theories and explanations given can help anyone in any circumstance understand how to think about drip irrigation. I especially liked the background info about why drip irrigation is not just a water saving device but also a way to get better production out of gardens. At each step, the author offers as much or as little detail as the reader might need for their purposes. I will probably re-read this book many times in coming seasons as my own garden evolves and my requirements mature. Thanks, Mr Kourik!

very good instructions and ideas, really like his non-use of 1/4 in tubing and practical ideas to use. foloow this instructions and have an operational system without as many hard-lessons learned

I was hoping for a book that would give a good explanation of all the types of emitters/heads available for use with drip irrigation. Found out just a few pages into the book that the author doesn't like "spaghetti" tubing. One short chapter on potted plants is the only place he mentions it. So, I still know as little about 90 degree vs 180 degree vs spinning spinning emitters s I did before purchasing this book.
Very disappointed. Just because he personally doesn't like spaghetti tubing doesn't mean there aren't a lot of us out there using it, or working with preexisting systems that use it. I've never had the problems he mentions. So I'm off to hopefully find a resource that answers my questions.
What the author does well is to describe how to set up system & use of drip tubing.

This book is really aimed at agriculture even though the layouts are for a residential home. We found that using a ring for each plant gave better control of water and less usage overall that the technique recommended here.

I have dabbled in drip irrigation, but wanted some structured information, so I got this book. I learned a lot from the book that I just didn't get from the drip irrigation tutorials and found it worth the cost. I would have rated it 5 stars if they had included some sample setups for vegetable gardens.

I have just finished reading through this book and can attest it is well worth it. The author has purposely remained unbiased in his reviews and illustrates the gizmos and how they come together quite well. I definitely feel better prepared to take on the summer now. . . and, btw, he has a chapter on drip irrigation for vegetable gardens which is most helpful.

It allowed me to design a system, which was the primary objective. However, alot of the information is outdated and the book needs better editing. For example, the lowest pressure reducer I could find at a big box hardware store was greater than what the book said was a minimum, and was plenty sufficient as fittings are now rated to 80 psi. Examples of run lengths provided in the text on p.32 did not match those in the Appendix Tables, making a relatively easy subject a little confusing. Similarly, on page 24 a typo of 1/8 instead of 0.1 adds confusion. There were more typos than I am used to seeing, some of them pretty important like 1/2" being 12" on page 148. Only about 8 pages of the book were relevant to what I had to do. The rest was filler and bad jokes.
Give me the basic ideas how to place it in my plants and it is very good!.

I will revise it to detail and in the near future i will place it to feed water to my flowers.

Of course I have to do the home work, adapting the system to my need, however that it is a Candy!.

Thanks You!
