I very much enjoyed this book. It is a great reference books for beaders. I've gotten a lot of tutorials from Pinterest but none quite like this which produce such realistic flowers.
Burirus
The book is well written. The instructions are clear and well illustrated. It provides an opportunity for one to create original designs using the flowers in this book.

This book has good color photos of beaded flowers which seduce you into buying the book. Then you realize that the beading stitches chosen to make curved lines of petals and leaves are all wrong. It hardly uses one of the best stitches for curved work--peyote. Only one lousy spindly clematis is done in peyote. Instead, you are treated to endless flowers using square stitch which is a rectangular stitch. They make increases in the middle of a row of square stitch which leads to a lot of thread showing and distortion instead of curves. after you make a flower or two, you realize that this book has an amateurish love for square stitch--something one learns as a very beginning beader.

Instructions use cross referencing to the extreme. While doing flower C, you have to jump back to instructions for Flower A and use steps 1-4 there and come back to Flower C to continue step 5. There are at least 2 jumps to previous flowers in every design. It is hard to not get confused or omit a step with all the jumping and flipping pages.

Instructions are rated for complexity with a "fiddly factor" concept. All the internal cross referencing without benefit of hyperlinks gives every flower a high fiddly factor.

The only good thing about this book is that it uses thread and needle not wire to make flowers. It is not worth the money. The book Beaded Garden by Diane Fitzgerald is much nicer to use and easier to follow. However, Diane's flowers are larger than the flowers in this book. One would have to adjust the sizes down to mix them with anything from this book.

Aside from the $40 USD ($18 Euros approx) and having to order from AmazonUK, this is a really nice book to have in your library if you are planning on including beaded flowers in your work. It stands very well on its own, but even better with Diane Fitzgerald's "The Beaded Garden" only because you can mix and match patterns from either. With any of the stitches and patterns provided, an experienced/determined beader should be able to put together quite an impressive bouquet. What great little (or large, depending on bead sizes) accents to bracelets, necklaces, picture frames, scrapbooking...etc. Plenty of applications and possibilities.
