The major port city of Southampton has a rich heritage, which is uniquely reflected in this fascinating new compilation. Contrasting a rare selection of archive images with full-colour modern photographs, this book reveals the ever-changing faces and buildings of Southampton. Covering local landmarks, pubs and hotels, churches, parks, transport, work and leisure, this is a wide-ranging look at the city’s colourful history. Inspiring fond memories in many, and revealing the Southampton of yesteryear to others, this volume will appeal to all who know and love the city.

Then and Now is a historical novel by W. Somerset Maugham. Set mainly in Imola, Italy, but also in other Italian cities, including Machiavelli's hometown Florence during the Renaissance, the story focuses on three months in the life of Niccolo Machiavelli, the Florentine politician, diplomat, philosopher and writer in the early years of the 16th century. The book was first published by Heinemann in 1946.

Southampton Then & Now is a fabulous collection of black and white archive photographs of Southampton in the past . I am a fan of Penny Legg books

Southampton Then & Now is a fabulous collection of black and white archive photographs of Southampton in the past and then a collection of photographs recreating the same photographs now in full modern colour, so the reader can look and compare the photographs and see how buildings, transport and people have changed over time. I am a fan of Penny Legg books. Penny really pays attention to the detail in the photos and she tries to capture the exact angle that the original photographs were taken at all those years ago, even having to avoid cars on the now modern and much busier roads of Southampton!

On hearing of the uprising in Urbino the Duke had sent two of his captains, Spaniards both, Don Ugo da Moncada and Don Michele da Corella, to put it down. rters they ravaged the surrounding territories, sacked the towns and killed most of the inhabitants. At Fossombrone women threw themselves and their children into the river to escape the savagery of the soldiery. The Duke, sending for Machiavelli, told him of these exploits with a great deal of good humour.

Southwest of London is Southampton (Soton to the locals), a metropolitan area centered around the port. However, tucked away on the side streets are ancient gems such as the Tudor House, Mottisfont Abbey, and "God's House," a museum located in a tower in the medieval wall. The ultra-modern Sea City Museum celebrates Southampton's seafaring past and the RMS Titanic.
