Start by marking Ayurveda - La Ciencia de Curarse Uno Mismo as Want .

Start by marking Ayurveda - La Ciencia de Curarse Uno Mismo as Want to Read: Want to Read savin. ant to Read. That book, combined with information provided by the doctor, helped set the stage for getting the most out of this text and moving my understanding o I would recommend this text only after gaining some introductory knowledge or experience with Ayurveda. An Indo-American Ayurvedic Physician, Vasant Lad brought a wealth of classroom and practical experience in Ayurveda to the United States. A native of India, he served for three years as Medical Director of the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune, India.

Vasant Lad.

Ayurveda: La Ciencia de Curarse Uno Mismo by Vasant Lad (Spanish) Paperback Book.

For the first time a book is available that clearly explains the principles and practical applications of Ayurveda.
Since becoming a Reiki master I have begun serious study of other energy healing systems. I recently purchased this 175 page soft cover book (Ayurveda: The science of self-healing: a practical guide by Dr. Vasant Lad) from Amazon for a bargain price. According to the author, “Ayurveda is the oldest healing system in the world.” After reading and studying numerous books on a wide variety of energy healing methods I found this system (Ayurveda) to be the most complex method of healing.

This book IS NOT an easy read. The Ayurveda healing system requires serious and long term study to understand how to apply the healing principles. This is a book that must be seriously studied to actually understand the material. If you can find an experienced Ayurveda instructor or take a college level course on this healing system than this book is a great reference source.

This book is organized into thirteen chapters and covers a wide range of topics. It is also fully illustrated with numerous charts. Some of the material you will find in this book includes: history and philosophy, the first life science, Ayurveda and human potential, Ayurveda and the western mind, the five elements of man, the human constitution, disease process, attributes, diagnosis, treatment, diet, taste, lifestyle and routine, time, longevity, medicinal, and many other subjects.

If you are seeking to learn this Indian healing system (Ayurveda) you may want to check out this book; however, be aware that this is a complex system to learn from a book.

The Sphinx of Driz
One of the best comprehensive guides to Ayurveda, even though it is less than 200 pages. Includes a number of really useful charts and appendixes that are quick and easy references. This is a densely written book - you have to really want to know or understand Ayurveda to get through it. Not for the faint hearted.
It’s a good and helpful book to read with the many charts, diagrams, and drawings, and the 37 pictures for showing about the Yoga Asanas.

But I must admit that I not are living with, or accepting, quite the same ideas about the grouping of persons, behavior, diseases and so on. For example, with the left side of a person contains female, or lunar, energy while the right side contains male or solar energy, and thereby with effect for which side to sleep on.

While in the Appendix B, First Aid Treatments, there are many advises, with among other herbs to use, which I accept, and think to be fine.

But again, for me mostly a historically informative book.
A consice, and jam packed book full of the wisdom of Ayurveda. Second to none for the beginner in my opinion. Absorbing the information of this book will leave the reader with the ability to self practice the science of Ayurveda to improve one's health.
This book was excellent. Once I started reading this book, I did not put it down. It is very informative and clear. It is easy to understand, and I also appreciate the clear font. I recommend this book for anyone who knows nothing - little about Ayurveda.
I originally had a copy of this book, but passed it along to someone....now I'm getting back into the study of Ayurveda and I know that this is/was an excellent resource. I'm happy with it.
A comprehensive overview of an immense topic deserving of a more in-depth approach. I don't fault the author for streamlining and hitting the main points, sometimes with just a page or two of explanation for less complicated topics. This works well enough to provide the reader with a basic understanding of the main ideas of Ayurveda and I would recommend this book.
Dr Lad's writing is so circuitous that I can't deal with it. Only leaves me feeling more confused.
