I opened a book and made some friends.

I opened a book and in I strode Now nobody can find me. I’ve left my chair, my house, my road, My town and my world behind me. I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring, I’ve swallowed the magic potion. I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king And dived in a bottomless ocean. I opened a book and made some friends. I finished my book and out I came

A book is a medium for recording information in the form of writing or images, typically composed of many pages (made of papyrus, parchment, vellum, or paper) bound together and protected by a cover. The technical term for this physical arrangement is codex (in the plural, codices). In the history of hand-held physical supports for extended written compositions or records, the codex replaces its immediate predecessor, the scroll. A single sheet in a codex is a leaf, and each side of a leaf is a page.

"Oink!" said the cats . . . With all the MOOing and HISSing and BAAAing and CLUCKing, the farmyard is full of noise. But when Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len hatch a plot to steal the fine prize cow, it's the quietest animal of all who saves the day! What the Ladybird Heard Book and CD Pack is a wonderful rhyming tale from Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks, the creators of the bestselling The Princess and the Wizard and Sharing a Shell.

My 18 month old son can’t get enough of this book. Loves the animal sounds, finding the ladybird (ladybug) on every page, and it’s illustrated very well! The term ladybird is British I assume for ladybug which might confuse him a bit but I think he gets it. Definitely buy!

Julia Donaldson is one of our favorite children's authors and this one lives up to all the others. Cute story and great illustrations. Up there with Room on the Broom as one of our favorites.

The ladybug isn't a talker but when she hears a plot to steal her friend, the cow, she alerts everyone on the farm and they decide to play a trick on the thieves to thwart their attempt. The 2 thieves have a map of the barnyard and will be going by the sound of the animals to guide them through the dark to the cow's shed. However, each animal makes the sound of a different animal to confuse the thieves and lead them straight into the duck pond! Of course they are caught. Fun story!

My kid loves this book, and like many Julia Donaldson books, I don't mind reading it repeatedly. Good story, colorful pictures, and the little guy saves the day! It's a great addition for a children's library.

Great book! Children love it and like to repeat the animal sounds over and over again.

Another great book by Donaldson. My 2-year-old granddaughter particularly liked this book because it works so well with her singing Old Macdonald.
Our granddaughter loves to supply the animal sounds! Mamaw loves the rhyming story & illustrations.
