This series is terrific for both young and old readers. I try to read the books my kids and grandkids read to see exactly what they are getting. This is a series that I can recommend to every age group.

I started watching the TV series on heartland and when I ran out of episodes I decided to read the books. I liked the TV series waaay better.

I almost never like the series as well as the books, whether I watch the series or read the books first usually makes no difference. The series was geared to a broader audience, I found there was a little something for everyone. The book was made for a younger audience, I found it a very lack-luster immature read with not much going on. It was slow, and stimulated zero brain waves for me.. for a tween aged girl I'm sure it would be riveting, a 25 year old? not even a little bit... possibly just bad book picking on my part, I just thought it would be similar to the series and It was not. if your over 12 save your money..

I like this book but I’m having a hard time reading it because the tv show is so much different from the book that I might like the tv show better!

I really liked this book. Even though I'm an older reader (52) who collects horse fiction, and its out of my age bracket, I found it to be very readable and it held my interest. Its a wonderful book for the young teen. The main character, Amy, learns some significant lessons in life after her mother dies in a tragic accident, and she is left to run the horse rescue by herself. She learns that life does go on, and responsibilites must still be realized, even in the face of tragedy. The characters in this book are likeable, the horses and horse terminology are realistic, and the book is not overly mushy or boring. It moves pretty quickly, and has a taste of suspense at times. All in all, I believe this book would be an excellent gift for a young, horse crazy girl! I would have greatly appreciated having it when I was at that age where horses were just about my whole world, and boys came second!

I always loved the Heartland TV show, nice to see how it got started. It's not quite the same, but books are always different than the movie, but it is still great.
This book is the first of a series. I will be getting the rest of the series soon.
