Excellent pop up book. The Santoros do marvelous work. Also have another book of theirs, Space Journey. Their three dimensional pop ups are astounding.

I love this book. The hanging pops are wonderful with great movement, very different from the usual pop construction, but they are not securely attached. I have ordered 2 used copies and returned both because of major missing parts. I enjoy repairing pop-ups, but if the parts aren't there it's impossible. The 1st book I bought, which was listed in very good condition, had 4 major hanging pops missing, plus torn and bent parts. The 2nd was rated in "like new" condition. It had 1 of the hanging parts, the Rocket, missing plus torn and bent parts/pages; I had paid $20 for it. I returned both copies for a refund. The hanging pops are attached with small stickers. They become unstuck and the pop gets lost. This could easily be remedied with better construction. If I purchased a "New Copy" I would reinforce the hanging pops before they fall off.

I collect pop up books. Santoro is one of my favorite paper engineers. He is known for the swing concept and this book has several. The car/jeep has a hood and under the hood is the engine. The train is swinging down the tracks. The astronaut is hanging off the space ship.

He is also known for counterbalance and the little aliens are cute. The deer sways on the hillside. The propellers look like they are ready to go on the plane.

Each page contains an array with the expected intricate pop-up mechanism, often creating three dimensional objects which can be viewed from several angles. The new thing is that each page also contains a three dimensional object that swings in midair. It is really entertaining to see the various vehicles that are created in this way. The illustrations are fun, with one page containing alien creatures that emerge from openings all over the display, and another with a miniature flying saucer that spins. This book is a real winner! All of this is woven together with a story that would appeal to little children - and even to this grandma. Kudos to Luca and Meera Santora... (Will note that the sections that swing free do not always close cooperatively when you try to turn the page, so take care!)

Amazing popouts. My nephew might be a bit young to appreciate the book, all of the adults were amazed at the detail. Much more intricate than the popup books I remember as a child.

My grandson loves this book and goes through it over and over again. He is only 3 but his father is a flight commander in the navy and identifies the book with him.
EROROHALO
My grandson loves this book.

As a collector of pop-up books, this is one of the best I've seen. So many different methods used and the art is fantastic.

Not for really young children as there are too many moving parts and tabs that might break after a little use. But very cool for us enthusiasts.
Love it!
