realize that the twilight series was safe and was meant for a younger audience. The stories did mature as the years went on but not to a degree that would make it too inappropriate for high schoolers. I also realize that it was meant mostly to be a romance before anything else. The second book with how the author had to introduce a character for the false love triangle while also putting the main love interest to the side for a while was rather annoying period in the third and fourth books it feels like a lot of the nonsense is put to the side and it gets down to the nitty-gritty no more.

You can read Twilight (The Twilight Saga, book 1).it's small, corny, sometimes utterly insipid, and amounts to very little. I wanted to say that this series ruined the Vampire Genre but that isn't really the case.

Met the author, didn't realize she wrote books until she gave me a signed copy of one. Was totally hooked immediately, and buy all that I can find!

From the many other reviews you can already see what the storyline entails, so no need to go into all that. This is my first Maggie Shayne novel, and I have to say I thought it was on corny side, and quite frankly not believable at all. I got really irritated with her constant use of Maxie Stuart's nickname "Mad Maxie Stuart" or "Mad Max." It was over used and in my opinion a stupid nickname anyway. But I continued reading, because I was at the very least intrigued to find out who the mysterious vampire was. He was a powerful vampire terrorizing Endover and had the town completely under his thrall. When I got near the end of the book, and his name was finally revealed and it was Vlad Dracul...Dracula. Dracula, REALLY? She couldn't come up with anything more original and of her own creation for the bad guy? Thus the unbelievable and corny parts I mentioned before. If other Shayne novels are of this caliber, I don't know if I'll give any of her others a chance. I'm used to the well written novels from the likes of Patrica Briggs and Charlaine Harris, with unique and well developed characters who stand on their own. Sorry, but this Shayne novel pales to the likes of the afore mentioned "Wonderful Authors."

I'm a new reader of Maggie Shayne. This is actually the first novel of her's I picked up. Perhaps that's why I feel comfortable giving her five stars. It seems her old fans expect a certain format from Shayne and have give less stars because of it.

Well, this novel is about a couple of paranormal sleuths who receive an urgent call from an old partner. Jason says his sister is missing and he needs Max and Stormy to help find her. Actually, it seems an old and powerful vampire, obsessed with his old blond haired petite love, came across a picture Stormy and was entralled with the likeness. Therefore, he's using Jason by holding his sister and friend hostage until he can get Stormy and Max to his island mansion. Sounds corney? Actually, I found it very readable. I liked the fact the old vampire had two sides. He holds an entire city in tralled, yet he chews out any of his minons if they harm a girl.

The above is the sub-story. The real story in Blue Twilight is the one going on between Max and her love interest, Lou. Max decides to pull all the guns and get Lou to admit his feelings for her. It doesn't work, but something else does in the end.

I'm looking forward to back tracking and seeing all that I missed in previous books. It was weird having to read Shayne referring to previous novels and not have a clue what she was talking about.

Twenty six years old Maxine "Mad Maxie" Stuart and her partner Tempest "Stormy" Jones are moving from White Plains, New York to Maine to open a private investigative firm. Maxie cons her beloved retired cop forty-four years old Lou Malone into driving; she hopes to persuade Lou that they belong together professionally and personally, but the stubborn former cop feels she can do better than him.

The sleuths receive a call from a close friend who they have not seen in years. Jason Beck tells them that his sister and her friend are missing and last seen in Endover, New Hampshire. He fails to warn them that the Prince, a vampire, has the two teens and is using them as bait because he recognizes the picture of Stormy on a brochure announcing the new company. The Prince aided by local Sheriff Fieldner plans to regain the love he lost once he has converted Stormy and eliminating Maxie is a viable option with Lou ready to die to keep his beloved safe from the supernatural.

The events of this tale occur in between those of TWILIGHT HUNGER and EMBRACE THE TWILIGHT, filling a gap that will elate readers. Maxie still works on Lou's psyche to get him to realize she is what he needs and more important he is what she desires. The Prince is an intriguing vampire with scruples until he sees the picture; then it all fair in love and war, which he will soon find himself in both as Maxie is quite a formidable opponent especially when a loved one seems threatened. Maggie Shayne provides another splendid paranormal romance with her latest Wings in the Night Twilight thriller.

Being a book in the Twilight series you have a certain expectation: that the two main characters -one being human the other being vampire- will fall in love. Lou and Max, both human, are simply two characters that frankly I skipped over in the previous novels because their story didn't hold my interest. Now if this novel was not packaged in the Twilight series cover it would have been a GREAT book. I was just expecting what I was accustomed to. The vampire plot line was, however, a bit weak. The opening scene, in which he dines upon the tasty neck of his victim laid foundation for a really complex character...but then he became this weak wuss. I hope Ms. Shayne realizes that I can fall in love with a bad guy...even evil guy...and makes him more tortured in the next book.
