How realistic is it to believe that one lover can satisfy a woman’s every fantasy?

Nia Simone Bijou is a woman who has it all—and is driven by the desire for more. Born in Trinidad, reared in Los Angeles, living in Atlanta, Nia is a writer, a thinker, and a woman in conflict. She’s dealing with two sides of her Gemini self, feeling as if there are two women living inside her, both struggling for domination. One side of Nia is a logical yet heartbroken person who has never let go of an old pain, while the other side is a sensual woman who will not let her rest, desiring intimacy and sexual freedom, demanding Pleasure.

In the sweltering heat of July, loneliness, desire, and a struggle with both the sensual self and fantasy inspire Nia to become sexually adventurous, meeting lovers who arouse her in diverse ways, lovers who give her unimaginable experiences, generous lovers who desire to please her as much as she desires to satisfy them. Fantasies spiral out of control, and with her life on the line, Nia discovers that Pleasure does not come without pain.

Filled with passion, populated with characters that are sexually uninhibited, Pleasure is an unforgettable journey into a free-spirited world.

Highly recommend! I have been away from EJD for a while and seriously enjoyed this reunion. Whether you are familiar with First Generation-removed Caribbeans or not you will love the pleasurable journey of the mind, body, and soul.

I have been a fan of Dickey's for a quite awhile but hadn't followed his most recent publications. I bought this book on a whim to see where he has been heading. Whoa, very nice read with a unique point of view from Dickey. The narrative is from the main's character point of view and provides a nice pace as well as insights to what I would normally consider a "sexual fiction" plot. It may be unfair to call the plot implausible but I found if I took it as a like a science fiction approach, in other words suspend belief and immerse yourself in the character and you'll be OK. This is not a children's novel and some of the subject matter may be disturbing to those used to Dickey's more subtle handling of sexuality in previous novels. I actually found it fun and a quick read. (I think the lady sitting next to me on the plane enjoyed it as much as I did. It certainly led to an interesting discussion.) So as the author suggests "all events were made up and came from my mind", keep it in the back of your mind that this would never really happen in real life and you'll enjoy. Engage Warp speed.

Complete waste of money! I'm SO DISAPPOINTED!! The person reading the story must be a robot because this was the most lifeless thing I've ever heard!! The reader had NO personality and did NOT match the book character in any way!

I found Pleasure to be an interesting book to say the least. I found the beginning to be a bit boring, but once I got into the book it was entertaining. As I've said many times before, I love EJD's writing style, so that is what kept me so interested. The book had alot of steamy sex scenes which I really liked up until a certain point. Afterwards, it got a bit redundant. And IMO, the Kiki Sunshine character was too much. At that point forward, the sex was overkill.

The book's ending was also quite blah. The book had no real meaning, no depth, no real substance, and to be honest, I expected more. I wanted Nia to come to some sort of realization within herself and her life. This was probably my least favorite EJD novel, but I am still a loyal fan and will be reading future works of his.

This was totally outside of the box for Eric Jerome Dickey, the plot was okay, it left me trying to figure out exactly what the "point" of this book was. But I will read about anything. It had some good parts, I just reading something that was outside of the box for the author. I think authors are now trying to keep up with the whole "Fity Shades of Grey" era and are stepping outside of their comfort zones to do so. Its was okay...not the best but okay. I finished the whole book which says a lot...there are some books I can't finish because its so out there.

I was given this book as a gift so I did not order it off of Amazon. But the review of this book from my desk is this....it is the BOMB! It starts off in his usual sexual way of some woman pleasuring herself and then goes into the sexual excapades of a business oriented woman in today's society. The book has many turns and curves to keep you reading into the wee hours of the night. It is a must read for anyone who appreciates Eric Jerome Dickey's work. I can't wait for his next book which will be out in the next few weeks....immediately following the O'Bama-bration. Not cele-BRATION.....but...O'Bama-BRATION. Yes we can and we will! YMMV. NEOSOUL06.
Very pleased with this novel. Sensual, poetic and entertaining. EJD is a classy and sophisticated writer who takes advantage of the English language. Definitely a must read
