This is a fantastic story! To me, it's Kirby Jonas' best! Very well written and thought provoking. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time! I have read other books by Kirby Jonas and love each one! This one made me laugh and cry! That's the mark of a great writer! His descriptions of events and people are so in depth and exacting, I get the feeling that I'm actually there with the characters seeing what they see, feeling what they feel! I'd read this book years ago (I still have it on my book shelf), but this version is a "Books In Motion" on CD. Hearing James (The Virginian) Drury read it made it extra special. I have always loved and followed The Virginian, have all the DVDs, and watch it on cable, and hearing Mr. Drury "telling me a story" is a wonderful treat! He has the perfect speaking/reading voice. I enjoyed the story more with Mr. Drury reading it to me, as I could just lay back and hear the action unfold, visualizing it all and being part of it! It's 14 CDs, but it goes fast and I've listened to this Book in Motion about 5 times through since ordering it. Get this book or the CD read by Mr. Drury. You won't be disappointed!

This is the first I have book read by Mr. Jonas, but I can assure you it will not be my last! His style makes you feel as if you are there... I could 'see' everything as clearly as if I was riding, or tracking, or hunting right beside Jose/Lucky. I live in Idaho and its wonderful to think of my land as it used to be! I can imagine it being exactly as Mr. Jonas has written. Thank you sir, for a truly enjoyable read, and now I'm off to find my next Kirby Jonas book to read!

What an authentic, well told story this is! I have traveled, hiked, hunted and fished in the beautiful setting that Kirby Jonas describes in Death of an Eagle....before the coming of the railroad and the thousands of land hungry settlers. Thanks Kerby for telling us how it might have been. This story incorporates action, adventure, romance, and twists in the story line that keep you engaged to the finish.

One of the best westerns I've ever read. Some say Kirby Jonas is the new Louis L'Amour. I say he's better!!! of I could give this book more than five stars I would. It is very well written and researched. Mr. Jonas makes you feel like you are right there in the middle of it. This is an author who truly knows the old west. I highly recommend this book, and any of his books!!!

My husband and I listened to the audio version of this book, and loved it. We travel by RV quite a bit, and we had just about run out of Louis Lamour books. Death of an Eagle was so good that we hated stopping for gas or food breaks because we were very engrossed in the story from the beginning. Its obvious that this author does his research before writing. I felt as though we were experiencing the old west as it must have been. My husband, somewhat of a history buff, was actually impressed, as he is ever on guard for errors. I loved in the believable characters and a plot that kept us wanting for more! Thank you Mr. Jonas! I look forward to more stories from you!

I really enjoyed this book! The western setting is real for the time period and the events and characters play out a scenario that keeps you looking forward to the next happenings.
Excellent book. I didn't want the story to end. And then when it did I was blown away. I recommend this novel and I'm looking foreword to reaching another Kirby Jonas novel.
