Ketchum gives us a vivid picture of himself thru this work. The works in this book are first person and really give the reader a chance to understand Ketchum on a deeper level thru his poems. The books title poem, Ghost Gear does an amazing job of not only telling a story but really setting the stage for the rest of the book. It shows us that this book is going to be very personal book and every story might not be made by the author who’s telling them. Jack Ketchum is the pseudonym for a former actor, singer, teacher, literary agent, lumber salesman and soda jerk – a former flower child and baby boomer who who figures that in 1956 Elvis, dinosaurs, and horror probably saved his life. His first novel, Off Season, prompted the Village Voice to publicly scold its publisher of violent pornography. He personally disagrees but is perfectly happy to let you decide for yourself. He has won multiple Stoker Awards, and has written over twenty novels and novellas – including several with film director Lucky McKee
