The writing is strong and deft and Seidel does a wonderful job infusing scenes with emotion and creating immensely likable characters. This book was a delight, start to finish and one that will immediately take its place on my keeper shelves more.

SEIDEL Award-winning author Kathleen Gilles Seidel still longs for the small Kansas hometown of her birth.

Kathleen Gilles Seidel is a terrific writer. Her characters are very well developed, and her stories are full of thought provoking situations. I did not care for all the jumping back and forth in time. Published 10 months ago.

I was expected a romance book, which is my preferred genre and it was not. However, it was a lot more and I was pleasantly surprised. The book was about relationships between brother and sister, friends and lovers. I liked the format of the book, which jumped from present to the past and then the present again. It made the story more suspenseful. The story never dragged. I read the book in one night. I stayed up until 6:00 a.m. to finish it even though I had to work that morning.

MINOR SPOILERS I liked all of the main characters Danny, Krissa and Quin. Ok, I loved Quin. He was romantic and faithful despite having a lot of temptation thrown at him cheat. In fact, even when Krissa left him, it took him almost 9 months to have an sex_ual encounter with someone else. I am in the minority in that I do not dislike Krissa because she left Danny by sleeping with another man. While I do not agree with her decision, the author did a good job in letting the reader know why she felt it was her only way out.
My only criticism I have is that a few of the things the characters said were not factually correct. Krissa made a comment that everyone leaves her including her husband. The comment was not true. She is the one who abandoned Quin & Danny and did nothing to encourage her husband to be with her.

I would recommend this book to friends and would be willing to read again.
Kathleen Gilles Seidel is a terrific writer. Her characters are very well developed, and her stories are full of thought provoking situations. I did not care for all the jumping back and forth in time. It was hard for me to keep track of what happened when.
An amazing storyteller, but not my favourite of her books. Her characters are complex. The story developed, but a bit gritty for a more mainstream romance reader. Evocative, poignant, it also contains some wonder and heartache. I wish this author would hurry and write more.
Great story. Characters believable and interesting. All around the best kind of entertaining fiction.
Love this author. This is not a new book and is somewhat dated, but is a great story! Love all of her books
My favorite KGS book, and that's saying something!
Well written and fund summer read. Keep on writing.
I enjoyed the complexity of the characters, the settings and the story. It is a great read on a stormy afternoon.
