Elizabeth Thatcher's highly anticipated return to her beloved Coal Valley after a long summer with her family . I enjoyed all the previous books in this series. I wish Janette & Laurel had developed more of the Elizabeth & Jack romance. The ending could have been developed more

Elizabeth Thatcher's highly anticipated return to her beloved Coal Valley after a long summer with her family back east is filled with surprises. and not all of them good ones, in her estimation. Maybe the worst one of all relates to her treasured students. The ending could have been developed more. Won't spoil the ending.

Beloved is a 1987 novel by the American writer Toni Morrison. Set after the American Civil War (1861–65), it is inspired by the life of Margaret Garner, an African American who escaped slavery in Kentucky in late January 1856 by crossing the Ohio River to Ohio, a free state. Captured, she killed her child rather than have her taken back into slavery.

i bought this book thinking it has to do with a jewish girl who falls in love with someone fr her own relegion or not. the story has her coming fr hollocaust survivors. she is a speech therapist and is trying to help one of her patients who is jewish and rich here again the old cliche.so i keep reading only to be duped again because this book is a book for jews for jesus if you follow that direction then this is the book for you. i wish that you would not put this type of book in the jewish fiction section any ways big dissapointment for me.

Laurel West is in serious need of taking a class or two in basic writing. Someone must have told her that the simple subject-predicate form was not acceptable so almost every sentence starts with a prepositional phrase (or 3), and her use of commas will have you thinking Amazon had a warehouse sale on pallet lots of them! It was mind boggling and this 240 page book took longer to read than a 500 page esoteric tome.

All that aside, the story is decent and something different. I absolutely disagree with the other reviewer. One family is traditionally Jewish, wealthy and involved in International retail. The other is very non-traditional, does keep many Jewish customs and holidays but has also accepted the coming of the Messiah. There is no heavy proselytizing. The query into the Old Testament passages that would be compatible with the Torah were very respectful and open ended. No heavy hand to be found, the characters sought truth within the bounds of their own experiences.

“Beloved Dissident” is a little book with some mechanical problems. On the other hand, it delivers a message and experience to an audience with whom it can be difficult to share the gospel.
