This is a work of fiction. Characters, events and organizations in this novel are creations of the author’s imagination.

The shipwright guild had just declared a strike. It had been two weeks since Alexander and Isabel had sailed away, and Kevin found himself preoccupied with his little sister. He knew Alexander would. do everything in his power to protect her, but he was still worried about her. The nightmare of trying to govern a city-state that didn’t want to be governed was starting to take its toll on him. He idly wondered how things were going for Erik and Duane. He suspected Erik was dealing with some of the same problems he was facing in Southport.

A truly epic story, well thought out and presented. I have read all 7 books in the series (as of this posting), and have re-read them at least twice. I have gone from owning them on Kindle to starting to purchase the paperback versions.

I have read the reviews that mention the book needing an editor, but I can only assume that an editor was indeed found. I find this book to be well written, and few/no spelling or very obviously bad sentences. The book isn't written for English teachers, but is, in my opinion, written well for its target audience, that of mainstream adults who have patience with a 7-book series, and believe in the basic ideas of the 'Old Law', and Good/Evil.

Book 3 is even better than the first two books. It’s still mostly a good guys versus the bad guys but the characters are more developed. I especially like how the main women characters have a larger role. I like strong powerful women and this book has them. One of the best things about these books, there’s never a dull moment. It springs into action and the action doesn’t stop! The magic is very creative and I love the monsters. I could go on but I’m eager to start book four.

Pros: The female leads are given greater part in the story. Their development is given equal weight with Alexander's adventures. They get unexpected powers, too, in order to help with the war.

Cons: I agree with what another writer said, how many swords does the hero need? It could have been a shield, a breastplate or a dagger. And the scene with the wyverns bonding is straight out of an Anne McCaffrey dragon book.

A good book and I am enjoying the series.
The only thing I think though is that the series didn't need to be quite so long to tell this story well! I am beginning to tire of battle after battle and crisis after crisis that seem manufactured in part to stretch the tale out. With as LoR our best example of prime fantasy, we know that we can have the most amazing plots, character developments and stories and still keep it concise and moving in 3 largish book. I am in book 5 of this series now and find myself skim reading battles and confrontations more and more as they just seem to go on and on.

Exciting read. I read every night until I can't keep my eyes open. So well written and the characters flow together making the story keep you enthralled. There is one character I read about but haven't seen anything further. I'm anxiously hoping they will be revisited in this series. This is a Wonderful story and I highly recommend the series to every reader.

Thank you David!

The continuing adventures of Alex and Isabel only get better with every book I read. Swords, magic , fairies, demons and wyverns only make this story get more interesting and make it very hard to put down. I look forward to turning the next page only to find another surprise and twist to the story. Reading book 4 now and can't put it down.

So far this series has been very enjoyable to read. This book like the first two just sucks you in and keeps you interested while still moving at a good pace. Mr Wells creates great characters and has them traveling on an adventure in a well built world.
I am still finding the characters rather one dimensional. They are clearly defined goodies or badies. I still get weary of some over used adjectives. But the story is great, i am totally hooked and really enjoying it. Wells does succeed in taking the reader on a adventure filled with action and suspense.
