Space Technology and Applications International Forum. Space Technology and Applications International Forum (STAIF) was an annual conference organized by the University of New Mexico Institute for Space and Nuclear Power Studies (UNM-ISNPS). From 1984 to 1994 the conference series was titled the Symposium on Space Nuclear Power Systems, but the conference scope was broadened with the 12th symposium in 1995, at which a number of new topics were added.

This international conference is part of a series of conferences that have .

This international conference is part of a series of conferences that have been dedicated to the topic of Cosmic Flows over the last two decades: most recently 2012 in Queensland, Australia, 2013 in Marseille, France and 2016 in Quy Nhon, Vietnam. Event listing ID: 1249141. Regional achievements span areas in both science and technology including optical and radio interferometry, as well as new understanding of solar physics, planetary science, star and galaxy formation and evolution, and the creation and evolution of our universe.

The proceedings document the most recent publications in a number of key areas of space technology, space nuclear power and propulsion systems and technology, solar system exploration technology, and advanced innovative propulsion concepts. The technical areas covered in these proceedings include the latest on the thermophysics in microgravity, space nuclear reactor power and propulsion systems technologies for the exploration of distant planets in the solar system, recent advances in static and dynamic energy conversion technologies including segmented thermoelectric, thermionic, alkali metals thermal to electric conversion, closed Brayton engines, and free piston Stirling engines for space power applications, high power electrical propulsion, advanced radioisotope power systems, human space exploration and colonization, advanced radioisotope power systems, and next generation commercial/civil space transportation systems technology.
