The problem with this book isn't that it's written in an older style of writing. I can read other Puritans just fine. There were people who lived during his time who wrote very clearly, and they're still easy and clear to read today. Reading Guthrie is like reading a legal document. His writing is mentally herky-jerky. He doesn't have a smooth flow of thought.

There are a few points where he writes clearly, and those parts are very good.

This is a very important book by the brother of one of the Covenanter martyrs. (read Fair Sunshine, by Jock Purves) The book threw me for a loop some years ago on what it means to be a Christian... The Puritans knew their Bible, and we ought to listen to them, and search the Scriptures to see if these things be so!
I have yet to see if there are a lot of errors in this version of it though... I hope not. I have the paperback by Banner of Truth.

Christian's Great Interest by William Guthrie, is a bit hard to read. It's readable but written in how the early Puritans spoke. But the content is awesome! It's Biblically based, solely on the Word of God. I am enjoying reading and learning!

Read it (almost completely twice in a row). First time through was very good, the next time through very good. Once one can get beyond some of the old English you'll be well on your way to see how Guthrie attempts to leave no stone unturned that might entire the readers inquiry.
